  • Yo everyone.  I just got back from helping out at the Assembly of God's Jersey junior high youth camp with my drama team, Under the Light.  They asked us to help out doing dramas for the week, but half of us also got jobs as counselors -- including me.  It was incredibly exhausting, but I'd do it again if I had to.  I got a cold and lost my voice.  Two kids in my cabin thought they were ladies' men, and two other kids acted like preschoolers.  God really stretched me.  Despite all obstacles, God touched a bunch of my kids.  Several of them made recommitments and had breakthroughs.  I'm glad I got to invest in their lives.

And now tonight, I preach at youth group.  I'm preaching out of Luke 8: 16 -18.  When life gets tough, you have to keep that light shining.  It's during those trials you find out what's really in you, if your relationship with Christ is real or not.

In other news, we finally found a house and a buyer (hopefully this guy won't back out).  I really think this is it.  God's bringing us someplace new, and he's brought us through a flood to get there.

  • I'm on my third week I think of summer break.  It's going pretty quick.  I've been working Mon, Thur, Fri, and Sat nights consistently (my manager doesn't have any more day hours to spare) and on Tuesday nights I'm at karate and Wednesday nights I help at youth group.

We found a buyer for our house, but we have not yet found a house ourselves.  We're still praying and looking.

  • Hello everyone.  It's been a long time, but I actually have a computer here at the library and time to write since it's finals week.  I should be working on my Business Math final project now, so I'll try to make this quick.

School's been going great.  I've especially been having a blast with Under the Light.  On April 2-3 we were near Pittsburgh on an outreach.  The service was really good.  The ride back to school was bizarre.  It snowed.  We got like 2 feet.  And just on April 1st, it was like 70 degrees.*  On the turnpike there was this huge tractor trailer/car accident about two miles ahead.  So the whole highway stalled.  Fortunately, a lady from the church we visited blessed us with a ton of food.  So I was chowing on a banana, and when I was finished I thought it would be funny to throw the peel on top of the tractor trailer sitting next to us.  About 5 minutes later, the driver comes out, pounds on the bus door and demands that we take off whatever we threw on top of his trailer.  Everyone looked at me and I just said "It's just a banana peel," thinking that would deter him.  But it didn't.  So we just stared each other down for several tension-filled seconds.  Then, Greg asks him if it's even possible to get it down, and the driver points to a ladder.  So, I make my way to the front of the bus and the driver stops me, and goes, "I'm just kidding with you."  That was fargin' hilarious.  We still had about two more hours to wait, so we passed out cookies to the other drivers on the highway and Brian and I entertained them by wrestling on the hill on the side of the road.

*Speaking of April 1st, April Fool's day was awesome this year, even though it started on a serious note.  For my Debates on Science and Religion honors class, we held our first debate, and this one was on the Terri Schiavo case.  It was post mortem, so we pretended the debate was taking place while she was still alive.  I argued for the feeding tube to stay in (I didn't choose my side -- to this day, I'm not entirely sure what the best ethical decision would have been) and did pretty darn good, but my side still lost the debate.  With that over, then April Fools fun began.  It was such a nice day I decided to study outside, with my fake poop on the sidewalk and wearing my Mexican wrestling mask.  I also wore my goofy suit jacket to class later.  I also had a lot of fun with my extendable fork at lunch and dinner, as I always do.  A few of my friends even put together a dodgeball team for the tournament that night and I wore my mask to that.

On April 15th, we had our big youth outreach here at VFCC.  It was awesome!  We did some new skits which went great.  It was the first time we did anything of this scale; we weren't sure what to expect.  (I was expecting a big outcome, though)  About 450 guests came and 90 people accepted Christ, so I was excited but not surprised.  God really did his thing.

The following Sunday we went to Teen Challenge and that went great, too.  I love T.C.  The guys there are so on fire and open.  Brought back memories of when we sponsored a friend from church to go there.

  • Yes, I'm still alive.  I'm just never on this thing.  I can't believe I'm a month into the spring semester already.  Last semester went well.  I got a 4.0 GPA, so that was a happy surprise.

Christmas break was pretty much not a break.  I worked a lot of hours at Darrenkamps and got into the swing of things at home.  As soon as I had a chance, I played Dynasty Warriors 3 on PS2 just to have some fun.  My break wasn't just routine, though.  First, when I returned home, I had rugburn all over my face from wrestling with my friend the night before . . . and ironically we were supposed to get family photos for Christmas (didn't happen).  Because I came home on Mom's birthday, and Dad's was the next day, my bros and I treated them out to Olive Garden.  What a switch.  The next weekend we went to NYC to visit our uncle and check out the decorations.  The ride home took almost eight hours because the roads were iced over.  Christmas Day was quaint, with a couple friends visiting.  About this time, my brother, Matt's car broke down, so I let him borrow mine once or twice.  New Year's Eve was interesting.  My cousin, Rafael came from Jersey and we did the Countdown Lancaster celebration, running around the streets like idiots and visiting all the art galleries.  The next week, I helped Matt move into his new house in Intercourse.  Nice place.

When I got back to campus the second week of January, it was pretty empty, but people gradually began filling the place up.  My boys and I started meeting regularly to pray for each other and the campus as a whole.

We lost a few members in Under the Light, but we're rolling with the blows.  God gave me a couple ideas for new skits a few weeks ago.  I may be doing some preaching this semester, too.  Next week, we head to Boston for our first outreach of the semester.  We'll also be going to Pittsburgh in April.  The big thing we're looking forward to is a giant youth rally we're throwing right here at VFCC, with the full backing of the school.  We can't wait to see what God's gonna do.
